Wendy Bebe The Kraken

Wendy Bebe’ the Kraken - Our New Puppy

My oldest daughter has been wearing me down about getting a puppy for quite some time. She started out wanting a Great Dane, in other words a Horse. In the end we ended up with a long haired mini dachshund (see below).

When I woke up on Mother’s Day, never did I think we would have a new baby in the house by the end of the day. Sometimes things are just meant to be. Mackenzie called on a certain litter, 3 females left, $250 bucks with papers. I asked her to see if the lady might come down on the price. No go, she had already dropped the price $50 dollars. When we arrived she pulled out one puppy in particular, that she had discovered a small umbilical hernia, and offered her to us for $100 dollars. “THAT’S the one I want”…there was no even looking at the other two. Another $120 bucks at Petsmart, and our little darling is all set.

Maybe it’s just that I’m a little older and more patient than past puppies. Maybe I have more understanding that she is, indeed, a baby. Maybe she’s just smarter than other puppies we’ve had. Who knows why, but this little tike is so smart, and already going to the door to go potty…8 weeks old and here only 2 days. She’s had one little accident on the carpet (Which Mackenzie cleaned up, that was part of the agreement.)

I am completely and totally enamored with this stubby legged little dog. The little bursts of energy she has about every hour and a half or so are hysterical, as she can’t really run…it’s more of a hopping thing, and her butt seems to be moving at a totally different rate than the rest of her body.

I cannot get enough of that sweet, skunky puppy smell. It’s so sad when they grow out of it. Her sad little droopy eyes, and the ears that are way too big for her little body are so damned cute, I can hardly stand it.

So I will gladly babysit Mackenzie’s little bundle of joy. She has already given me a ton of joy, and I can’t wait to watch her grow up and into her own little personality.
